Why can't I use the Sculptor if I have Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is a serious condition caused by low bone density, which can result in the long bones of the body becoming brittle, with an increased risk of fracture - it often needs medical treatment and ongoing monitoring by a consultant. We therefore need to be responsible in suggesting that the use of some tools, such as the Sculptor or Drummer, might be contraindicated for people with Osteoporosis. This is because the use of these tools can potentially put people at risk of discomfort or even injury due to the fragility of their bones making them more susceptible to micro-fractures or more significant breaks. Additionally, compromised soft tissue, often associated with this condition, may be aggravated by the physical manipulation involved in using the Sculptor. Of course, we understand that the severity of any named medical condition will vary considerably from person to person, so we would always recommend that you check with your consultant and get their explicit consent before using. If you do decide to use the tool, remember to begin with a very light touch and build intensity gradually. only if you are comfortable.
Why can't I use the Sculptor if I take blood thinners?
When taking blood thinners we need to assume that you are being treated for a blood issue. However, there are, of course, varying degrees so it might be that if your condition is not severe then you could use the tool lightly. You would need to get consent from your consultant, as we don’t know what your medical history is. If advised not to use the full sculpting you can glide the tool flat over your skin, or hold it over area of inflammation or pain, heating or cooling it as required.

I have been using the Body Sculptor for a few weeks but haven't seen any changes yet, why might this be?
Everyone is different and our healing journeys are unique. Of course we would love to experience the immediate results that we have when, for example, we use the Beauty Restorer on our face and see our natural glow returning, or the burst of energy we feel when we use the Bamboo Tapper, but for deeper issues it can take a little longer. Reports generally say that when using a tool such as the Sculptor, it can take up to 90 days of consistent use to see any real results - although we have had many reports from customers who have been delighted with the differences in their health and in their bodies after only a couple of weeks' use.The issues we experience have usually formed over time, so our bodies also need time for those issues to be resolved; and as everyone is different and responds to treatment at their own speed, some people are simply slower to see any real results. However, it is worth remembering that even though physical improvements may take a little time, powerful energetic benefits will be taking place from the day you begin using the Sculptor, as Qi and Blood flow is restored, kick-starting the healing process.Other factors may be the reason why we don't see results as quickly as we would like and there may be other concerns that need to be addressed, such as stress, lifestyle choices, chronic illness or life stages (for example, menopause). Also, our healing occurs in layers, and not all of our issues are located or resolved in the same way. Often there is a blockage at a higher level, which is likely to be emotional, spiritual, or even ancestral. Although lack of visible results can feel extremely frustrating because we want to achieve our desired goals as quickly as possible, we need to begin somewhere; so mindfully incorporating self-care practices and tools into our daily life will be the best way to achieve that. For a deeper understanding of how we truly heal, including practical guidance on technique for all of our tools, enabling you to get the very best out of them, join Katie in her Healing Circle; on her Instagram subscription; or consider a private consultation so that she can help you to get to the bottom of any underlying issues that might be slowing your progress and hampering your healing.Following this path will not only lead to a healthy mind and body but also to the expansion of the soul and a deeper understanding of life's meaning - this holistic healing is the very best kind of healing.
I have experienced itching after using the Sculptor, is this normal?
When we begin to use the Sculptor, it is not unusual for us to experience a little itching of the skin.
This is because fascia massage increases blood flow and circulation and helps release toxins and metabolic waste, which can sometimes cause itching as the body adjusts.
The stimulation of nerve endings and the breakdown of cellulite fat deposits can also add to this sensation. Additionally, as part of the body's healing response, as well as the improved lymphatic drainage and fluid movement that the massage prompts, it can cause temporary colouration of the skin (much as gua sha does), but this should subside as the body adapts to regular massage with the tool.
For those of us who have particularly sensitive skin, we may notice this more than others. Of course, if it is uncomfortable or prolonged, then discontinue use until the symptoms ease and then resume only when comfortable and remember to begin very gently - we should always listen to our body.
Is the Sculptor safe to use in pregnancy?
Pregnant women should avoid gua sha unless performed by a professional practitioner. This is because certain acupressure points on the face and on the body can trigger uterine contraction. To be safe, it would be also wise to avoid massage on the back and abdomen during pregnancy.
I have some bruises after using the Sculptor, is this normal?
If your fascia is compromised, you may experience bruising initially when starting fascial release. The aim of fascial release is to restore the fascia to optimal health, so until your body becomes accustomed to the procedure, you might find that you bruise easily. Not everyone bruises, and bruising is not the aim, however if your fascia is not healthy, this may occur until the fascia is restored, and you may bruise again as you reach deeper layers. It is important to remember that bruising is not an injury in the traditional sense (like the bruising you might get when you bang your leg on a table); it is a temporary side effect of the procedure. This bruising serves as a visual reminder of the positive changes occurring at a cellular level beneath the skin, caused by the intentional pressure applied to areas of stagnation. Although we might not usually view bruising as a positive sign, in this context, it indicates restored blood flow to previously blocked areas and is the body's natural response to microtrauma, showing that rejuvenation is taking place, similar to what is observed with gua sha or cupping.
As always, begin very gently until your body gets used to fascia release massage, and only increase pressure when you feel ready. This is not an overnight process; it takes time and patience, but the results are worth it.
