What is the Hayo’u Method?

Inspired by Chinese medicine, Hayo’u is a ground-breaking self-treatment method which enables you to master your health.

The benchmark should no longer be how long we are living, but how well. We may be living longer, but conditions like stress, pain, low energy, headaches, anxiety, poor skin, low fertility, bad digestion and lack of sleep are all on the rise.

Based on the largely unknown but hugely beneficial aspect of Chinese Medicine Yang sheng, (nurture life), the Hayo’u Method addresses the root cause of most modern-day illness – stress.

Stress is an entirely normal and healthy function of the body. We are all born with an instinctive stress response as it is vital in a life or death situation. Modern life is however no longer that dramatic, it’s stressful in a constant way. This chronic (long term) stress creates inflammation, increasingly viewed as the culprit behind many modern-day illnesses. Inflammation has been blamed for a range of health issues from common problems like poor sleep and digestion to major disorders such as Arthritis and Depression.

At Hayo’u, we believe that with the right knowledge and tools you can address stress by making small adjustments to your daily life. Our one-minute rituals work to reduce stress and inflammation on a daily basis by relaxing the body, enabling free-flow of circulation and assisting detoxification.

Individually, these simple techniques will have instant results such as better sleep, a relaxed mind and more energy. Combined and practised daily, in the longer term they will limit the chances of illness getting a foothold in the body.

Rescue Breath Ritual

This simple but powerful technique stimulates the vagus nerve, which turns off your ‘fight or flight’ reflex and immediately relaxes the body. Crucially, there is also evidence that the vagus nerve combats inflammation, providing both instant and long-term benefit.

Reset Ritual

Poor circulation creates chronic inflammation and leaves you feeling tired and sluggish. Regular practise of the Reset Ritual will rectify this and is brilliant to do on waking and, for example, every time you wash your hands throughout the day. (Tie it to something you already do to help remind you).

Body Restorer Ritual

Gua Sha is a healing technique that has been widely practised in China for thousands of years. It has been shown in studies to reduce inflammation, increase immunity, relieve muscular tension and improve sleep. Gua Sha involves using a round-edged tool to gently press-stroke the skin until redness appears – hence the name. ‘Gua’ means to rub, whilst ‘sha’ describes the redness that results. You can find award-winning Gua Sha tools on our website.

This ingenious skin care technique comprises three iconic Chinese techniques: Àn fa (press-hold), Gua Sha (press-stroke) and Acupressure (press-turn). Together, they deliver healthy, radiant skin after just one-minute of use. It’s easy, inexpensive, combines with all existing beauty routines and is completely natural.

Mineral Bathing

The Chinese have known for centuries that combining bathing with aromatic ingredients and minerals along with breathing techniques is hugely effective. If done correctly, this simple form of hydrotherapy is one of the easiest ways to improve health. Passive heating reduces inflammation by lowering blood pressure, heart rate and blood sugar levels.

Something to note about Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a treatment designed to relieve muscular pain and tension and improve circulation. Results vary according to age, strength of body, skin type and medical conditions. If you are under the age of 16 and over the age of 60 or suffering specific medical conditions we do not recommend using the Body Restorer™. At no point should treatment feel painful. Always start gently, observing the reaction to your skin and proceed with caution. If in any doubt, contact us at info@hayoumethod.com or seek medical advice.
