Meet our Head Gua Sha Therapist, Katie Blake
17 May 2021
It’s not just about her qualifications and experience as a gua sha therapist, as well as crystal healer, acupuncturist, face yoga ‘super therapist’, aromatherapist, sound healer, hot stone massage therapist, holistic facialist, the list goes on There’s simply something about her. She is kind, gentle and nurturing, she exudes a feeling of calm and serenity, and a feeling that all will be well.
So how did Katie discover gua sha? Having met Chinese medicine practitioner and Founder of Hayo’u, Katie Brindle, over ten years ago, they started practising gua sha together. “I could see the difference immediately, how gua sha relieves muscle tension in the face and body and improves the flow of energy. You just can’t do this with your hands alone’, she says.
Having developed a passion for Chinese medicine and gua sha, Katie trained and practised for many years before becoming head gua sha therapist at Hayo’u. “It’s so important that you know how to use gua sha tools and techniques properly,’ she explains. ‘You need to treat your face very differently to your body, and gua sha should be pleasurable as well as beneficial.”
Katie’s knowledge on the subject of gua sha is vast, from the physical qualities of the skin, muscles and bones to the meridians, organs, acupressure points, lymphatic system and flow of Qi. An essential factor when you’re putting yourself in the hands of a gua sha therapist. As Katie Brindle says, “Katie is an incredibly experienced Gua Sha teacher, but not only that, she is gentle, patient and nurturing. You will be in the best of hands.
Gua sha at Hayo’u Clinic
Katie launched Hayo’u Clinic with us as head gua sha therapist last year, and it has gone from strength to strength with a loyal list of clients. This virtual platform has proved so popular that guest therapists such as Pietro Simone have joined the team and there are other exciting developments on the way.
Katie will create a personalised gua sha facial or body treatment exclusively for you. She will teach you all the skills you need for a beautifully relaxing, nourishing and therapeutic treatment. Learn how to use your face and body gua sha tools, perfect your gua sha techniques and learn our one-minute rituals to improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, clear toxins and lift and sculpt the skin.
Katie’s Instagram page is also an invaluable source of information from how to gua sha with your children and treat teenage skin to the difference between our crystal tools, how to cleanse them, and how to get the best out of them.
Don’t just take our word for it:
‘Katie Blake is truly a Medicine Woman. She is without question my favourite healer and beauty therapist, with her magic touch, even when guiding me through my treatments online.’ Lynne Franks
‘Special doesn’t begin to cover what Katie Blake does, and who she is. This is proper healing: for more than just skin deep. Although the skin ends up looking pretty fabulous too! She is in a class of her own.” Anna Murphy, The Times
But it doesn’t end there. We have such exciting things in the pipeline for both Hayo’u Clinic and Katie Blake that we can’t wait to share with you. In the meantime, watch this space and check our Instagram regularly for updates.
